(23 miles). Exit right on Crown Valley Rd. to the intersection in the old town of Acton (2 miles downhill). Go straight through the stop sign and across the railroad tracks 2.2 miles to the preserve on the left. • From Northern California: Follow I-5 south to Hwy 14 exit then turn left and head north on Hwy 14 to Crown Valley Rd. (23 miles). Exit right on Crown Valley Rd. to the intersection in the old town of Acton (2 miles downhill). Go straight through the stop sign and across the railroad tracks 2.2 miles to the preserve on the left. • From Mojave: Take Hwy 14 west from Mojave through Lancaster and Palmdale. Additional Features: Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the southern end of the Silicon Valley (Santa Clara County), this 66-acre preserve is a perfect home base for touring many of the popular attractions and destinations in California's Central Coast. Additional Features: The archaeological history at Pismo Beach starts at least 9,000 years ago with the Chumash Indians, who referred to the area as a place to find "pismu," or tar. European settlement in this area dates back to 1769, when Don Gaspar de Portola and parties camped in the area.
